Japan Airlines (JAL) announced on Wednesday that it intends to purchase an additional 17 Boeing 737-8 aircraft as part of its fleet modernization. This follows a 2023 decision to acquire 21 Boeing 737-8 planes to replace older 737-800 models, mainly for domestic routes.

Additionally, JAL plans to introduce 11 Airbus A321neo aircraft to replace Boeing 767s, primarily for flights to and from Haneda Airport. For international routes, the airline aims to add 10 Boeing 787-9 aircraft and 20 Airbus A350-900 planes.
