Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg has appointed Ann Schmidt as the new chief communications and brand officer, marking the latest in a series of executive changes since Ortberg became CEO in August. Schmidt had been serving as the interim head of communications since Brian Besanceney's retirement on October 1.

In recent years, Boeing has faced multiple crises, including two fatal crashes, safety and quality issues, criminal investigations, financial losses, and a prolonged strike, all of which have damaged the company's reputation. In October, Ortberg acknowledged that Boeing had lost its iconic status and emphasized the need for a "fundamental culture change."

Ortberg also informed employees in a memo on Friday that Chief Information Officer Susan Doniz had left the company, with Dennis Eng taking over as interim CIO. Earlier in the month, Boeing's chief lobbyist, Ziad "Z" Ojakli, departed, and in September, Ted Colbert, the head of Boeing Defense, Space, and Security, left. Steve Parker, the division's COO, is temporarily overseeing BDS.

Additionally, Elizabeth Lund, Boeing's head of quality for commercial airplanes, will retire this month. Lund, who was appointed senior vice president of quality for commercial planes in February, will be replaced by Doug Ackerman, a veteran of Boeing's quality improvement efforts and vice president of supply chain and fabrication quality.
