Chinese and European automakers are set to debut new models at the Paris Auto Show on Monday, with a significant focus on electric vehicles (EVs), despite slowing demand and the impending European Union tariffs on Chinese-made EVs, expected later this month.

Here are some of the launches expected to make waves at Europe’s largest auto event, where organizers have counted around 50 European and global premieres.

CHINESE MANUFACTURERS

Leading Chinese EV manufacturer BYD, which entered several European markets this summer, is aiming to rival Tesla's Model Y with the Sea Lion 07, a mid-sized electric SUV.

BYD will also present its luxury plug-in hybrid SUV, the Yangwang U8, to the French market. This model boasts impressive features, including the ability to float in water during accidents and perform parking maneuvers such as moving sideways or spinning on the spot, thanks to its four electric motors—one in each wheel.

GAC, a state-owned Chinese company, is introducing the second generation of its Aion V compact electric SUV, offering a range of up to 750 kilometers (466 miles).

FAW's Hongqi, or Red Flag, known as Chairman Mao Zedong’s preferred car brand and often compared to Rolls-Royce, will showcase its luxury electric models, including the 5.2-meter-long E-HS9, as well as the EH7 and EHS7.

Startup Leapmotor will display its small EV, the T03, alongside new electric SUVs, the C10 and B10.

EUROPEAN MANUFACTURERS

Renault, a prominent local manufacturer, will reveal its small electric SUV, the R4, a modernized version of the iconic Renault 4 from the 1960s. The automaker will also introduce a larger version of the popular SUV Duster, the Dacia Bigster.

Alpine, Renault’s performance brand, is set to unveil a concept car for its upcoming A390 fastback, marking its second fully electric vehicle.

Volkswagen will debut its seven-seater VW Tayron SUV, available as both a mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid. Pricing will start at 45,475 euros ($49,763).

Stellantis is launching the new compact Citroen C4 and C4X, which will be available in hybrid, electric, and traditional combustion-engine versions.

Peugeot, known for its innovative designs, will showcase the Hypersquare—a rectangular steering wheel set to be featured in vehicles hitting showrooms by 2026.
