Investor sentiment in the euro zone declined for the third consecutive month in September, reaching its lowest point since January, according to a survey released on Monday. The Sentix index for the euro zone fell to -15.4 in September from -13.9 in August. Analysts surveyed by Reuters had anticipated a recovery to -12.5 this month.

The survey, conducted between September 5 and 9 with 1,142 investors, revealed that while the euro zone expectations index slightly improved to -8.0 from -8.8 in August, the current situation score worsened to -22.5 from -19.0.

Sentix attributed the ongoing decline in investor morale to the "political and economic turmoil in Germany," which it views as a significant burden on the broader euro zone. The statement also noted that the only source of optimism for investors lies in the potential for supportive monetary policy.

In Germany, Europe's largest economy, investor sentiment dropped further to -34.7 in September from -31.1 in August. The index measuring the current situation in Germany fell to -48.0 from -42.8 in August.
