In April, German inflation saw a slight uptick to 2.4%, as reported by the federal statistics office on Tuesday, confirming earlier estimates.

This rise follows March's rate of 2.3%, which marked the lowest level in nearly three years when considering German consumer prices harmonized for comparison within the European Union.

Ruth Brand, president of the federal statistics office, noted that energy and food prices notably contributed to curbing the inflation rate since January 2024.

However, she highlighted that core inflation, which excludes food and energy, has consistently surpassed the overall inflation rate since the year began. The latest data reveals core inflation at 3.0% for April.
